The Final Call

Revelation 14:6–7 — “Then I saw another angel flying directly overhead, with an eternal gospel to proclaim…”

Katie and I were once sitting in the DFW airport, waiting at our gate well before our flight. Another plane was boarding beside us, and we listened as the attendant began calling the groups—first class, military, handicapped, then the rows one by one. Finally, she announced: “This is the final boarding call.”No one moved. The gate closed.

Moments later, a family sprinted down the hallway, shouting, “Don’t close the gate—we’re here! Let us on!” But the door didn’t open. The call had been made. And they missed it.

Revelation 14 describes a day when something far more serious will happen—the final gospel call will be proclaimed across the entire earth by an angel sent from God. It will be clear. It will be unmistakable. It will reach every corner of the globe. Yet many will miss it—not because they never heard, but because they never responded.

The call is still sounding. The invitation is still extended: “Fear God, give Him glory… worship Him who made heaven and earth.” (Rev. 14:7)

The question is not whether God is still calling—you hear His voice every time the gospel is preached, every time Scripture is opened, every time the Spirit stirs your heart. The real question is whether we are responding.

Reflection Questions

  • Am I delaying obedience, assuming I have more time?

  • What is the Spirit calling me to surrender, repent of, or trust Him with today?

  • Who in my life needs to hear the gospel call before it’s too late?

Prayer

Lord, thank You that the gate is still open. Help me hear and respond to Your call with urgency and faith. Keep my heart tender and obedient. Give me courage to share the gospel while the door of grace remains open to the world. Amen.
