Day 31: The Power of a Peacemaker

Click Here for Today's Scripture Reading: Day 31: 1 Sam 25–28 | Prov 15:1–11 | Acts 7

Scripture: “Then David said to Abigail, ‘Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, who sent you to meet me today. May you be blessed for your good judgment and for keeping me today from bloodshed and from avenging myself by my own hand.’”1 Samuel 25:32–33 (CSB)

Abigail stepped into a volatile situation with humility, wisdom, and courage. David and his men were prepared to respond in anger, but God intervened through her obedience. What makes this moment especially powerful is that David’s blessing was not vague. He named exactly what Abigail had done. He recognized her good judgment and acknowledged that her actions had kept him from sin.

Abigail did not merely offer kind words — she brought tangible help, wise counsel, and spiritual clarity. Because of her, bloodshed was avoided, and God’s purposes were protected. David saw God’s hand in her ministry and returned praise to the Lord because of what she had done.

This is the heart of peacemaking. It is not passive. It is active, courageous, wise, and rooted in faith. God still uses willing servants like Abigail to step into chaos and bring His peace.

Reflection: Where is God calling you to step in with wisdom and grace instead of silence or anger?

Prayer: Lord, give me the heart of a peacemaker. Help me respond with wisdom, humility, and courage so that my actions bring glory to You and peace to others.
