Sound the Alarm

Scripture: “How, then, can they call on him they have not believed in? And how can they believe without hearing about him? And how can they hear without a preacher?” — Romans 10:14 CSB

Devotion: A small island community faced a devastating wildfire. That town had 80 warning signals installed—sirens intended to alert the people of danger. But when the fire approached, not a single alarm sounded. Someone knew the danger was coming, but the people didn’t. And because those who knew never sent the warning, lives were lost that day—tragically and unnecessarily.

Romans 10:14 gives us a spiritual warning just as urgent. God has given His people the message of salvation through Jesus Christ. We know judgment is coming. We know the hope of the gospel. Yet many of the people around us—friends, loved ones, neighbors, co-workers—are living their lives unaware of the danger ahead. It’s not that the alarm doesn’t exist. It’s that it often goes unsounded.

Today, let this passage stir your heart. Someone in your life needs to hear about Jesus—not next week, not someday, but soon. Ask the Lord to give you courage, compassion, and clarity to speak. You may be the only gospel voice in someone’s life.

Reflection:Who in your life needs to hear the gospel from you? Ask God to show you one person today who needs the alarm sounded.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for entrusting me with the message of salvation. Give me boldness and love to share the gospel with those around me. Help me to faithfully sound the alarm so others may hear and believe.
