Wrestling With God

Scripture:  Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him until daybreak.” — Genesis 32:24

Jacob encountered God at the ford of the Jabbok during a moment of fear and uncertainty. Alone in the darkness, he wrestled with God through the night. Though Jacob was wounded and could not prevail by strength, he refused to let go until God blessed him. When Jacob confessed his name "heel-grabber", God gave him a new one—Israel—marking a turning point in his life. Jacob left the place limping, but changed, having seen God face to face. Jacob's limp represented a walk that was changed. God wants to change your walk, too. He wants you to have a Christian walk.

Reflection: God often meets us in seasons of struggle. He may weaken our strength so that we learn to cling to Him. Do not fear the wrestling—God uses it to change who we are.

Prayer: Lord, help me cling to You in my struggles. Change me through my weakness, and shape me into who You desire me to be.
