Day 29: Seen by God

Click Here for Today's Scripture Reading: Day 29 1 Sam 17–20 | Prov 14:1–14 | Acts 5

Scripture: But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not look at his appearance or his stature because I have rejected him. Humans do not see what the Lord sees, for humans see what is visible, but the Lord sees the heart.’” — 1 Samuel 16:7 (CSB)

When Samuel came to anoint Israel’s next king, David wasn’t even considered. Others were chosen, examined, and rejected—while David was left in the field, faithfully tending sheep. People overlooked him, but God had already accepted him. While humans judged by outward appearance, the Lord saw a heart shaped by faithfulness in obscurity. Even when David didn’t realize it, God was working, preparing him for a purpose far greater than the pasture.

You may feel rejected, forgotten, or passed over by others. But this passage reminds us that human rejection never determines divine acceptance. God sees your heart. He notices your faithfulness. And even in seasons where nothing seems to be happening, the Lord is quietly at work, accomplishing His will in ways you cannot yet see.

Reflection: Are you trusting God’s view of you more than the opinions of others, and serving faithfully where He has placed you?

Prayer: Lord, thank You that You see my heart and accept me fully. Help me to remain faithful in unseen seasons and to trust that You are at work even when I don’t realize it. Amen.
