After completing your observations, summarize your findings in a devotional format. Include any insights or questions you may have for class discussion.

    • Identify who they are, their role in the early church, and any significant background information.


  2. Give special attention to Mark.

    • Mark once abandoned Paul and the missionary team (Acts 13:13), leading to a sharp disagreement between Paul and Barnabas (Acts 15:36–40).

    • Yet by the time of Philemon, Mark and Paul have been fully reconciled, and Mark is listed among Paul’s trusted coworkers.


  3. Reflect on the significance of this restoration.

    • How does Paul’s restored relationship with Mark support or strengthen Paul’s appeal to Philemon on behalf of Onesimus?

    • Consider how Paul’s personal experience with forgiveness and restoration serves as a model for the very action he is urging Philemon to take.
